Thanks to NAHB Now, keeping up with these trends is now easier than ever. They have provided a list of the top kitchen and bathroom features that are sure to nab the attention of prospective homebuyers.

The Kitchen

In its recent study “What Home buyers Really Want: 2021 Edition”, NAHB found that four out of ten homebuyers consider a double sink in the kitchen so important that they would be unlikely to purchase a home without it, making it the most essential share of kitchen features listed.

Other features sought by more than 70% of buyers included:

  • Table space for eating
  • Central island
  • Drinking water filtration
  • Granite or other natural stone countertops

Features desired by more than two-thirds of respondents included:

  • Recessed lighting
  • Customized backsplash
  • Pull-out shelves

The Bathroom

Along with kitchens, bathrooms were proven by the NAHB to be a primary consideration for homebuyers. Of its 18 bathroom features shown on the survey, 12 were considered essential or desirable by more than 50% of respondents.

The four most desirable bathroom features all pertained to the primary bathroom. The top four features included:

  • Linen closet
  • Shower stall and tub
  • Double vanity
  • Private toilet compartment
